Wednesday, November 12, 2025 (7:30 AM - 10:00 AM) (PST)
Description
Tonya Sowles and Sarah Elkinton present "AI, HR, and the Future of Work." Networking from 7:30-8:00am and program from 8:00-10:00am
Artificial Intelligence has rapidly evolved from a behind-the-scenes efficiency tool to a front-line partner in HR decision-making. In this interactive and engaging session we’ll explore how AI has shaped HR over the last decade, the ways it’s being applied today, and the opportunities and challenges it presents for the future. This session balances optimism and caution, highlighting practical tools and case studies HR professionals can use now, while also addressing compliance, ethics, and the human-centered risks that come with AI. Participants will walk away with a framework for evaluating when and how to use AI, examples of effective and ineffective prompts, and strategies to ensure AI strengthens rather than undermines the human side of HR.
Learning Objectives:
- Trace AI’s Evolution in HR – Review how AI has influenced HR over the years, current best practices, and future opportunities.
- Apply Practical Tools for Today’s HR – Gain hands-on guidance for writing effective generative AI prompts and using a checklist to evaluate when AI tools should (and should not) be integrated into HR work.
- Using AI Wisely – Learn how to leverage AI responsibly while avoiding ethical and compliance missteps.
Balance Potential with Pitfalls – Examine case studies that highlight both the benefits and limitations of AI in HR, and develop strategies to keep human intelligence at the center of HR practice.
